Other than abortion, same sex marriage is the next most controversial issue in the united states of America. People are asking the question, should same sex couples be allowed to marry? With the high divorce rate, I sometimes ask myself whether straight couples should be allowed to marry
I might not necessary understand how same sex couples feel about marriage, however, a long time ago, I promised myself to never align myself with any law that denies certain group of people the same rights that other groups enjoy. We need to turn fear into courage. In the past people have used fear to deny others certain rights. Let’s not forget segregation and the whole civil rights movement

On this day, at this moment, I decided to take a look into the future. Will things get better? Will issues like climate change, health, global conflict and genocide become a thing of the past? What about Mother Nature?

In an election that was as much for the world as it is America, history was made on 11/4/2008. Obama has taking the helm. All rudders are ahead. It’s time to find out which direction he is going to steer the country and the world.

A car that runs on Air sounds intriguing. Just when we thought we had seen the best technology has to offer, news of a air car is revealed. This car, rather than run on gasoline, runs on compressed air. It can travel up to 35 mph for about 60 miles. It will be available o US consumers around 2010 for an estimated price of $18 000.

As Americans worry about keeping their homes, Congolese worry about living to see another day. Many “Displaced Congolese return home to dangerous circumstances in search of food.” The conflict in congo has killed up to 3 million people

In 2008, in an era we like to call progressive and civilized. Where burning persons suspected of witchcraft is no longer practiced, there are still wars being fought in many regions of the world. Health is still a major issue in many countries. Hunger is still a serious problem in Africa.

“Slaves do not always meet their liberators with open arms. While Human beings yearn for freedom; Sometimes the life of a well treated slave can seem more comfortable in comparison to the challenges of freedom”

I saw an article today on Yahoo that talked about whites impression of blacks. The main focus of the article was why democratic presidential nominee, Barrack Obama might lose the presidential elction.  The article claimed that “about 1/3 of  white democrats believe that blacks are lazy and that if they worked harder they could enjoy the same lifestyles that whites enjoy.” The percentage of republicans who share this believe was much higher.  Are blacks really Lazy? This old saying said it best “Do not judge a man unless you’ve walked a mile in his shoes”.  Anyones life can improve if they work hard; however you can not entirely rule out social factors. While the lives of blacks in America has improved and is still improving, its important to remember that just 60 years ago there was segregation in our schools. White kids had access to better schools. It was just 100 years ago that blacks and women could not vote. Less that 200 years ago Blacks were slaves in this country.

Example 1: if two chefs had to cook and one chef had the all best ingredient while the other had regular ingredients. Chances are the chef with the best ingredients will create the better tasting meals. The Chef who possesses the best ingredients does not always prepare the most delicious meal; but sometimes it helps to have good ingredients. It is the same reason why most of our nations presidents and elites go to the best schools in the nation.

Example 2: In sports, the home team tend to do better at home. In soccer world cup, the host country almost always makes it to the semi-finals.  Saying that blacks are lazy, that things would be better if they tried harder would be like a sports team with home court advantage telling the visitors to stop whinnig, that if they trained harder they too can win. Before people make generalizations it is important to consider all factors. The playing field is not always fair.

“Ordinary men have always had to suffer for the history their leaders were making” .

There is a balance that exists in life. This balance is known as the middle path. The middle path is the center of two extremes. For example, the earth is able to sustain life because it is located just at the right distance from the sun. Venus is too close to the sun; as a result it’s too hot. A cold day on Venus is about 300°. Mars is too far from the sun; as a result, it is too cold, A warm day on mars is about 0°. The principle of the middle path applies to everything that exists. Eating too much causes obesity; on the other hand, eating to little can lead to anorexia.

Hunger and poverty remains an issue of great concern whether it’s foreign or domestic. According to Robert McNamara, president of the world bank, absolute poverty , not to be confused with relative poverty , “is responsible for the loss of countless of lives, especially among infants and younger children”. Most Americans agree that poverty is a problem that concerns everyone; however, they tend to disagree on what groups of the poor should be of concern to us. Some believe absolute poverty is of more importance; therefore, we should try to help the poor and hungry in developing Nations. Others believe we should focus on poverty in the united states.
